The latest edition of The Country Web showcases women who have found their forte working in areas which were previously seen as the reserve of men.

Department of Primary Industries (DPI) Rural Women’s Network project officer, Allison Priest, said the women featured included farmers, geologists, painters, mechanics, electricians, engineers, shearers, pilots and rangers.

"They come from a diverse range of disciplines representing the grains, forestry, mining, agricultural, health care, livestock and automotive industries," Ms Priest said.

"Each woman tells her own story about how she became involved in her industry, why she loves her chosen career and some of the challenges and opportunities which have arisen in the pursuit of her career path.

"They share their knowledge and offer strategies and tips for women and girls who may be considering a career in their chosen fields."

Also included in this edition is a four-page NSW Rural Women's Gathering lift-out, for the event which will be held at Parkes this October 12 -14.

A special commemorative tea towel to celebrate the past 20 years of the NSW Rural Women's Gathering movement will be available at the gathering or directly from the Rural Women’s Network.

Edition 57 of The Country Web ‘Women crossing the boundaries’, also pays tribute to rural ambassador, Fran Rowe, who was named the 2012 NSW Woman of the Year.
