A new one-day course specially for women who want to learn more about chainsaw handling and maintaining small machinery is being held by NSW Department of Primary Industries (DPI) at Goulburn this Friday.

“More and more women are getting involved these days with small machinery around the property,” said course organiser Maryke Archbold-Hession, DPI education officer.

“They are finding they can save a lot of money assessing some of the mechanical needs of their ride-on-mowers, hand mowers, whipper snippers, generators and pumps.

“This course, tailored especially for women, is a great opportunity to learn techniques to maintain and service small powered machines plus simple safety methods to handle a chainsaw.”

Ms Archbold-Hession said it would also be a fun day where women can gather with their friends, colleagues and family to learn new, money-saving and useful life skills.

The one day introduction course will be held from 9am to 3pm this Friday 24 August at Goulburn CWA Rooms, and is presented by qualified DPI trainers.

The cost is $55 with lunch and refreshments included.
