A series of pre-season meetings will kick off on 29 August at Yanco to help rice growers make the most of the coming growing season.

NSW Department of Primary Industries acting Technical Specialist Southern Farming Systems, John Smith, said the meetings are an ideal opportunity to hear about the latest developments and the issues affecting the rice industry.

"The meetings will highlight the key aspects of crop management that growers need to put in place to get the best result this season," Mr Smith said.

"Topics will include the latest information on varieties, weed management and the latest trial results on water and nitrogen management from industry researchers.

"Information will also be presented from the Ricecheck data collected from growers to highlight the influence of local management on rice grain yield.

"The meetings will help the NSW rice ndustry stay ahead of the game and continue to lead the world on crop yield and the sustainable, efficient use of resources."
