Producers are being urged to get organised so they don‟t miss out on this year's Grassland Society of NSW conference to be held at Wagga Wagga on 24-26 July.

Conference convenor, Nathan Ferguson, an agronomist with NSW Department of Primary Industries (NSW DPI), said cut price early bird registrations close on Saturday 30 June and final registrations close on Monday 16 July.

"The aim of the conference „Driving your Landscape to Success‟ is to provide participants with the skills to recognise different parts of their landscape for their productive or conservation potential and manage them accordingly," he said.

"Financial pressures on producers are increasing and will most probably continue to do so into the future.

"The goal of leaving your farm in a better state than when you took it over is becoming harder to achieve.

"Land managers need to be more targeted in their management decisions and this conference is aimed at helping them achieve that goal."

Mr Ferguson said NSW DPI, a premier sponsor of the conference, has for many years been an advocate for managing the landscape for a desired outcome.

"We want producers to be targeted in their approach to management, which means cropping paddocks that are appropriate for cropping, sowing improved pastures into areas of the landscape where they will persist and produce for many years to come, and applying fertiliser to appropriate areas of the farm," he said.

The Society‟s 27th annual conference, which includes the choice of three bus tours, is being held at Joyes Hall, Charles Sturt University, Wagga Wagga campus.
