Northern Tablelands sheep producers are welcome to attend a free sheep industry update at the Glen Innes Agricultural Advisory Station on Thursday May 24.

NSW Department of Primary Industries sheep and wool officer, Chris Shands, said breeding whiter and softer wool to suit growing market demand, wild dog management strategies and marketing approaches for wool and lambs are on the agenda.

"We have selected topics which reflect current issues of particular interest to sheep producers on the Northern Tablelands," Mr Shands said.

"Specialist speakers will deliver information on flock health and technology to improve on-farm production efficiency and they will be ready to take questions from the floor."

The update is brought to Northern Tablelands producers through Sheep Connect NSW, a joint initiative of NSW DPI and Australian Wool Innovation Limited (AWI).

NSW DPI Sheep Connect NSW project officer, Shelly Anderson, said the industry update will link local producers with the latest research results, new technology, management approaches, market trends and opportunities.

"The Northern Tablelands area is a key sheep production zone and it’s important we ensure our producers are informed and have the opportunity to discuss significant issues facing their industry," Ms Anderson said.

"These events bring farmers together, allowing producers to share their experiences and speak about what’s working well on their farms and the challenges they are facing."

Registration is essential for the Glen Innes Sheep Connect NSW Industry Update which runs from 9am until 3pm.

Producers can register for this free event by telephone, (02) 6391 3951, email sheep.connect@dpi.nsw.gov.au or text to 0428 304 660.
