Learn how to trim and cut felled trees with a chainsaw at a NSW Department of Primary Industries (NSW DPI) PROfarm short course to be held at Grafton on 27-28 August.

NSW DPI PROfarm course organiser, Julie Chapman, said the two-day 'Chainsaw - Trim & Cut Felled Trees' course was ideal for council and forestry workers, emergency services personnel and land owners.

This practical course covers the steps required to remove a fallen tree, which may be hazardous. All equipment is provided, she said.

The course covers equipment maintenance; safe cutting techniques and field exercises including cross cutting, ripping, limbing, boring and the use of wedges to assist cutting; OHS procedures and precautions; and environmental and legal responsibilities.

The course is being held at Grafton Primary Industries Institute, Trenayr Road, Junction Hill.

The course runs from 8.30am to 4.30pm. It costs $580 per person (GST free) and includes a chainsaw operator‟s manual, card, and certificate of attainment upon successful completion of the course.

Course registrations close on Tuesday 21 August.
