Course to teach safe tractor use

Farmers and farm workers can brush up on their safe tractor operation and maintenance skills with a two-day NSW Department of Primary Industries PROFarm short course at Grafton in June.

The ‘Safe tractor operation and maintenance’ covers the safety, operation and maintenance of tractors and attached implements.

This practical course is delivered using a mix of both indoor and outdoor instruction including how to:

  • Perform pre-start, shutdown and routine checks on tractors;
  • Perform daily/weekly tractor services;
  • Drive a tractor (basic);
  • Attach, reverse and remove a trailed implement;
  • Attach and remove various other implements including – 3 point linkage, remote hydraulics, PTO driven implements;
  • Front end loader unit; and
  • Relevant OHS licensing and legislation requirements.

The course at the Grafton Primary Industries Institute at Junction Hill will cost $490 GST free and will be held on 20-21 June with registrations and payment closing on 14 June.

The course will start at 8.30am and finish by 4.30pm and is open to participants across Northern NSW.

The course fee also includes provision of a tractor operation and maintenance training manual and certificate of attainment upon successful completion of the course.
