SCU-DPI workshop

Southern Cross University and NSW Department of Primary Industries workshop, Wollongbar Primary Industries Institute - February 2011.

Linking different types of research outcomes to strategies which effect changes in practices in primary industries or rural communities requires collaboration between different types of organisations. Southern Cross University and Industry and Investment NSW have significant RD&E capabilities relevant to primary industries, particularly related to issues affecting coastal catchments.

This workshop was conducted to show case partnership projects which integrate research outcomes with strategies to effect practice changes in primary industries, rural communities or the way their environment is managed.

Overviews in the areas of plant science, climate change, geoscience, environmental management and regional development were be presented by leading scientists and managers from SCU and NSW DPI. The major factors which drive university and government agency research for primary industries were reviewed to identify ways to increase research impact.
