The Country Web 54

Cover of The Country Web, issue number 54

Our latest issue of The Country Web is all about getting 'back to basics' as we take a look at creative and practical ideas to simplify our mind, body and even the hip pocket by sharing tips to help the household budget as well as the environment and our families.

Getting back to basics can be as simple as changing some of those old habits and rethinking the way we do things. This may mean starting on a farm succession plan, volunteering in our community, making our own detergent or establishing a healthy eating plan and that is just a taste of what this edition has between it's covers.

The newsletter also includes stories on Karen Hutchinson (Hanwood) this year's winner of the 2011 NSW/ACT RIRDC Rural Women's Award and runner up Sally Martin (Young). Both women are established role models and leaders; Karen within the irrigation industry and Sally as a sheep and wool expert.

There is a story on Bathurst veterinary science student Amy Dutton the Royal Easter Show 2011 Rural Achiever and Joy Kogias from Kempsey who is pioneering enviro-roll specialty toilet paper!

The report on the wonderful 2010 Wentworth NSW rural Women's Gathering may just inspire you to come to this year's event being hosted by women from the Hunter town of Gloucester 14-16 October and there is some information included to keep you informed on their planning to date.

Along with all the stories this edition is peppered with regular sections, poems and stories from rural women so pull up a chair and click on the link!
